Formerly a top fashion model, almost 5'10'' tall. Carey was popular with the top American fashion designers like Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren. She is the daughter of a distinguished geologist, who in 1979 was named Scientist of the year by the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists. Carey was a frequent traveler because of her father's work. When she finished her studies at the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs, she started to do modeling as a side. This caught the eye of an agent at Ford Model Agency New York. The model lived in France briefly, in Paris and Bordeaux. She then returned to New York for her college studies and to further develop her modeling career. She was a full-time student in New York University, obtaining her major in Literature while working on modeling assignments. In time, she began to become interested in acting and studied at the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York. In 1986 she made her first appearance on stage with a small part as a minor character in "Club Paradise" with Robin Williams. When she is not working she loves skiing, windsurfing, climbing rocks and whitewater river rafting.
